Performance in Context - Photography Brief'
Today the band was tasked with a photography task mainly explaining what we should consider when it comes taking our band photos for our social media profile and promoting our band, when taking band photos the name of the game is representation, so having established a band identity and general idea of style and presence, so thinking of these things we need to at least have a idea of what our band will represent in terms of Political, Stereotypical or Relateable content is a definite to feature in the photo.
The lighting.
Making sure people see or don't see in the photo is a key idea to keep in mind in the photo booth, if you are smart you'll keep in mind the usual genre your band plays, keeping in mind how trueful the photo is to others of its nature so for example.
is photographic studio is required?

This is a Band photo from a band called the wailers a renowned reggae band, though this isn't necessarily a live band photo it's more drawing the general idea is that you don't exactly need a lot to make a band photo thought the photo could have been taken in person the idea is more animated and in a sense more accessible for newcomers to get a quick understanding of what the band is about and it didn't even take a expensive, professional studio to do though I believe this was initially a band photo then made into a drawing made from reference that doesn't necessarily mean the picture had to be high quality or taken in a certain environment to make it, it's simply a simple photo taken on a normal day which brings me to my next point.
Where would we get the photos taken
Naturally due to the pandemic it seems we may not be able to go out and get our band photos done though if we could I believe the band would use the pod or stage at college to get a good band photo displaying our dedication to work and passion to music though realistically if we were to do one now I'd say the photo would consist of a some effort sharing separate photos of ourselves and editing them together like this picture.

Fun fact.
Though this picture isn't a band photo it's purpose fits the same means to introduce a audience to a group of performers and give a general idea of what is to be expected from their content. This photo is a cast photo for a cinematic universe called the dark multiverse which never got past two movies anyway that's besides the point this photo of the cast for dark multiverse has some big faces in it and is nicely polished but you may be asking how did the studio get them all in the same room? well they didn't thanks to each member being busy the universal studios couldn't get all the cast in the same room at one particular time so they decided to just take a photo of each actor in their free time then edit them in in the end, so since our band can't be in the same room at the same time we may need to pull a universal studios.
Linking the type of shots to the band name
HDWGH? is a question and is also our name so you may be asking how did we get here? well let me explain.
The band was picked for us and inically the idea of band names were kind of stereotypical or Just silly, so we started to think harder about how we should identify ourselves as a band and people started to ask questions causing confusion and what do people do when they are confused? Start to ask questions so Howard said what about "How did we get her?" even if it was genuinely his idea of a band name or a question we were confused enough to accept How did we get here as the band name and carried on, so taking into consideration the band is built on confusion we have to base our style on the name and style is one main approach to keeping in tone with our band and what we represent. so using the Dark multiverse picture as reference and The wailers band photo we need to decrypt what they did to represent themselves in tone, personality.
The band entertainers approach styles appropriate to their genre, culture and personality I do believe our band have a very similar personality when it comes to sarcasm and joking around though at the same time I do believe we are professional in a particular sense so if we go for a colourful kind of style we may get that point across to the viewer that we have colorful humor though if we have a grey background it can establish our serious musical background for lack of a better term.
My expectations for the band photos.
I believe the band are all on the same page when it comes to designing the band photo and any other material that involves the bands photographical opinion, so I believe the photo will consist of a playful and serious sort of town with a bit of confused or delirious tone.
The Final product.

See confusing, colorful and serious and two of those things conflict! IT'S ART I TELL YOU!
