Band Progress and experience.

I personally had a stressful time learning and producing the covers from home and though most progress was recorded a majority of the good evidence was lost in the jungle of bad takes of the solo rehearsals of me at home, though stuck at home I did manage to get along with the band well and though we all won't really motivated too much we did have some things to relate with about the struggles of being a musician during lockdown.

Lola did mainly attempt to get as much evidence of our collaborative work of rehearsing the songs at college along with gemma and howard but that was mainly the only motivating part of the band other than just the casual banter the band would have on occasion in the band group chat other than that we didn't really all properly get along until truly working together the week of the performance.

Personally I did learn a lot of drumming techniques like complexed paradiddles and drag techniques and learning about technician roles like lighting engineers and front of house engineers ect. This is all explained in my personal development logs and othe blogs.

Stage Wear

The stage wear was last second really though I had the idea of dressing up in formal clothing suits and dresses really since the three songs we'd end up playing where all stylistically made and implemented to have a classical style or at least two of them do (fly me to the moon, A message to you rudy) though fallin isn't exactly like the other two songs style wise it's still has the same feel.

Planning

Inically my idea was for us to dress formally to match the majority of the songs we would play while also keeping in mind our band photo planning and design I did want to keep in mind how we planned making the band photo so going with a black, grey and white theme with one accessory of a random extra color would keep to our band identity while paying homage to the Bands/Artists we were covering though this plan didn't come into play. We ended up going with a more 'casual' look to portray a more casual personality to allow the audience to see our personality through how we normally dress.

Final Rehearsal/Soundcheck

The final rehearsal consisted of going over our set list in the order of a message to you rudy, fallin and fly me to the moon after a good half an hour the band had refreshed ourselves on how exactly we'd start, structure and execute the songs.

Evaluation.

A message to you rudy.

My thoughts.

Personally I think this performance was most definitely our best, though the performance seems kind of bland not exactly the most movement ever the overall performance was played perfectly and realistically I don't really know where to start with any negative criticism and naturally I know criticism isn't negative it's a good way of developing and learning from your own or someone else's mistakes but I do need to at least point out some of the little things.

Though the performance was good there is room for improvement the drums though not too intrusive and weren't exactly 'song ending' the drum roles could have been narrowed down and used less in the song since it would be more accurate to the original song. Realistically I do also think the band style could have catered to the Specials band style though this is mainly a nitpick cause If the band tried dressing like the Specials for one song then the style won't make sense for the rest of the songs like Fallin and Fly me to the moon.

Places to improve.

Given the time we had together what we had done was definitely our to do list set out for us in such little time though one thing that could have been done is that we could have organised stage movement more in rehearsals. Even though I say stage movement could have been improved in all honesty It's not particularly bad if anything it's accurate to the original so to be fair this isn't fair criticism then again since we didn't have a particular style to match the original song why should we have stuck to the same stage movement as the original? where is does the consistencies and Inconsistencies start and end?

Fallin.

My thoughts.

Naturally this could be considered the best performed song by HDWGH the chemistry between the band was good coordination wasn't great more planning towards the start and end of the song could have been considered before the performance, though the band did organise that we wouldn't have a count in since it'd ruin the atmosphere and impact of the start of the song, I can say that the band would have benefited from a more subtle way of keeping in time and realistically I can't put the blame on anyone else but myself since I knew Aseel had trouble with keeping in time from experience with working with her in the past.

place to improve.

I can't hide the fact that the band took two attempts at performing this song so after the initial failed attempt at starting the song It's true that the impact of the opening of this song was ruined by our botched first attempt after Aseel messed up the keys though to be fair she did have a day away from the main rehearsal day we used to practise Fallin together son Aseel did miss out on that side of the bands development.

The overall song performance.

Other than these particular mistakes made the rest of the performance until the end is consistent in vocal performance and musical accuracy remaining true to the original while also applying a good use of HDWGH's dynamics and chemistry working really well to get for A to B though the ending of the song could have been more thought out and smooth.

Fly me to the moon.

My thoughts.

Though personally I enjoyed performing and playing this classic it was a messy attempt and I don't see anyway to hide the fact that I'm to blame. As a drummer I have the unique responsibility of keeping everyone in time by providing a count in at the beginning of each particular song I perform live so the fact I decided to follow the same plan the band had for fallin was foolish of me, knowing Aseel was leading the charge for opening the song with vocals I should have anticipated that she would start to get ahead of herself and I should have in the event of this happening provided the band with some way of measuring the timing of the song which I did end up trying to do but by the point I was using in time taps on the ride as a stubble metronome for the band the song was already all over the place and I blame myself for being too focused on my own performance that I phased out of what exactly everyone else was doing at the time.

Place to improve.

establishing a count in next time should suffice for the poor opening of fly me to the moon though all aspects of the songs vocal and musical execution was all correct the timing did let us down and though I know I shouldn't completely blame myself I should have been able to correctly reorganise the band into time but I was unable to.

The overall song performance.

Though the beginning, end and bits in the middle could have been performed better I do believe the heart was in the music and though that didn't carry the overall performance I did provide us the will to not just retry and carry on with the performance.

FMP Bands!

Ok so in preparation for the fmp me and Josh had already decided we'd like to work together since this year we had produced some good work while in the same bands though I am not just going to leave the conversation there just essentially saying "well Josh would be good to work with" so I am going to go over all my work form lvl 3 and discuss who I'd like to work with and why.

Naturally I've always enjoyed working with new people but It seems like I have been kept with the same people like in all seriousness I can't count on one hand how many times i've been put in a band with Holly and the twins and it's not like I hate them but working with them has become so repetitive I think it's best that we do get a opportunity to work with others and since it's the FMP again I know I won't be able to work with everyone Like charlie Tyler george or even Nat and there are others I haven't worked with this year and if I can't move onto a extra year due to any number of reasons I do wish to utilise what little time left a college I have so let me list some people I have and haven't worked with to give a ideal final band for me at least.

I do also know that this ideal band won't really come into play but even the smallest chance of me being able to get a good band to work with is all the chance I need to express how important the last stretch of this year is to me and how regardless of what band I'm in I have the time and right equipment to put 110% in my college work for the last stretch a percentage that's been lacking in all my work this year even in this evaluation.

People I'd like to work with.

I will be excluding certain people from the list Like Kaps, kelson, Alfie and other friends and though I would like to work with them I cant since they have communicated with me and told me who they wish to work with so I don't want to intrude in that so the only person I know wants to work with me is Josh so most of the list is me going over all the people I enjoyed working with this year and I also have a plan of learning a new instrument so I'm trying to avoid going for people with one prefered instrument.

Josh

As said I'd like to work with Josh since I have only performed with hm once out of the two performances we were supposed to work together since I was sick early this year and didn't get to do the induction performance, even then me and josh are good friends so there is no chance of any arguments coming from working together.

Jayden

he's my brother and we leave no man behind.

Gemma

Gemma like josh has been in two bands with me and though we ain't best friends or anything she is a good person to work with who is always getting work done and is also a multi instrumentalist who can take Vocals, guitar and bass respectively so being in a band with her again would be good and since we were just in a band together It wouldn't be such a difficult time getting to grips with the new band.

Howard

Howard is a great guitarist and drinatly is someone i'd like to work with again since he has great music tastes and I a honest hard worker who does try and put his heart and soul into working out his parts and generally enjoys what he does and working with him is similar to working with Alfie and Toby O shea.

Tyler

Though I haven't worked with Tyler he does remind me of Celeb from lvl 2 a extremely skilled pianist who has a relatable sense of humor but also gets fornamanal work done and though I did say I would keep in mind people I have worked with I do want to work with Tyler since he's seems a good musician and influence encouraging work out of the band.

Stuart

Though I believe stuart is planning on working with Ben and someone else stuart has always been a mostly professional but also comedic part of learning songs and band rehearsals knowing a range of music theory I believe I do learn for him so it'll be cool to work with him

Honorable mentions. (you don't need to consider these)

There are so many people I want to work with but a majority of them have plans to work with others so I will list some people I know are doing other things but would like to work with.

Nat

Nat is a perfectionist and a good friend to working with him would be interesting and funny and a would just be another good addition to a band.

Kelson

One of the remaining members of the Idot Squad (My first college band) so working with him and even Alfie would be cool.

Ellie.

Cause I hate her and if I don't have a ideal band I'd like to ruin her FMP for revenge purposes.

Ashley

Ash was cool to work with on the Genre shift task and she is yet another skilled musician who I enjoyed working with so I wouldn't mind working with her.

Tobz

Daddy cakes himself is a overlooked musician and another member of the constitution

Toby O shea

Like other guitarists toby is a joy to work with but not my first pick If i'm honest.

Everyone else

Everyone has great vibes but I don't really know them well enough to say I want to work with them.

People who I can't work with at all (You have to listen to this!)

Holly... I don't want to work with holly! (I do not jest)
