Week 4

Teaching Drums

The past two weeks Toby has showed interest in learning the drums so today I started to teach him a standard 4/4 beat and some small techniques like drags and ghost notes, in exchange for him teaching me bass guitar for a song we may add to the set in future.

Progress on Crown.

After last week I've been studying more live lounge variations of the songs we are covering and after listening to the live lounge version of crown a few times I'm starting to mimic drum rolls adjacent to ones played by session drummers in live lounge performances.

Progress on Peaches.

Peaches was performed last week and I've taken a look at the video I'm not impressed with my side of the performance though I manage to play my parts right I feel like I need to play a bit more laid back with a constant use of hi-hats for the chorus to keep myself and band members in time instead of trying to play with the bass guitar.

Toby's Original.

I'm slowly getting a grip on how I should approach the song at first I was planning on taking a heavy technical approach with the guitar riff on the song but over complexing the song will ruin the flow of the song and I'd defiantly not be able to be consistent in the song if I try overplaying it.

Removal of songs.

Falling In love and Sweat and sour have been removed from the setlist we plan on replacing them with too good were I'll be playing bass but that still remains to be seen.

What's the plan for next week?

This Friday nick told us what we will be doing next week and it consists of covering a beatles song and reworking it.
