Here is my written report on all my studio knowledge I've learned about this year.

Within the coming weeks our band needs to learn, rehearse and play 7 different songs this will include the songs, Another way to die by Jack White and Alicia Keys, Numb/Encore By Linkin park/ Jay Z, Dakota by Stereophonics Hey ya by outkast, Season greetings by Linneah and two original songs made by our band which will soon be known as Unnatural and Pig.

This task will take concentration, determination and hard work, keeping in mind our band need to perform these songs on the 9th of december so having only two and a half months to get this done will be challenging, though focusing on band identity, stage movement and the rehearsal of these songs we do need to record them in the studio to track our progress on them and to display our skill as musicians.

Micing up the drum kit.

As the drummer of the band I have a interesting responsibility and that's to mic up the drum kit that's if it hasn't been done for me, But on a serious not this task came easily to me since I've learned about micing up drum kits In level 2. This was definitely a simple task knowing the particular mics and where to put them made the task simple for me all I needed to do was attach the Condenser Microphone (AT2020) mics to the mic stands on the right and left of the drum kit to pick up all the sound in the Live room and the sound from the cymbals, also placing a dynamic mic inside the bass drum, I also placed a SM57 over the snare drum and one below the snare to collect the rattle and another Hi-hat to pick up the sounds they make I used a used a Sennheiser MD421-I to pick up the toms.

Using Logic to edit Numb.

Editing our recording with logic.

When it came to recording a song our band decided to do Numb since it was our first song we were given and it would show our progress from since we got the song to now, so when recording the song we encountered a few issues but only due to not having any warm up time before getting into the studio after 3 different recordings we managed to get good enough takes to finish with our recording sessions.

What effects did we add?

After recording the song we went over all of the recordings and selected our best parts taking our time to make sure we made the recording of the song the best we could, after this we spent the next few studio lessons going over the particular parts starting with guitar, bass and drums then focusing on editing the vocals by adding effects when necessary.

The effects we added to guitar.

We added distortion effects to fit with Toby vision of how the guitar should sound and we added small bits of delay as well at certain parts of the song where it was needed.

The effects we added to the Vocals.

We added some reverb to the lead vocals to sharpen up Aseels vocals to add that little extra to them, when It came to editing the Rap we added some Reverb and delay to the parts when Jayden chimes in singing "Caught in the undertow, just caught in the undertow" to change the intrusiveness of these lyrics, but when it came to the main Rap we made removed the reverb and slightly EQ'd these vocals to make them sharper.

The drums.

Going over the song I had some time to EQ the snare and bass upping the bass to 100Hz, +5.0 dB to make the bass drum more bassy but not too bassy and I EQ'd the snare to 94.0 Hz, +10.0 dB sharpening up the snare a bit so it sounds better in the song.
