Introduction.

The guest act were former students and artist in residence from the band called SOLFUNK. They performed a couple of songs on stage and then came available for a question/answer session directly afterwards and provided us all with some guidance/encouragement throughout the remainder of that afternoon. I'll be going over what I witnessed during the Solfunk performance and why It influenced my choice of questions given the opportunity to ask them.

Performance.

What did I learn from witnessing their performance?
The band had so much presence I still don't know where to start I don't really have any negative things to say about the band or at least any criticism cause the mix of chemistry and charisma between the band, their music and it's execution are 10/10 so It's that overwhelming I don't know where to start.
The band and their presence.
Solfunk provided the college with a crazy start to the day we didn't have a register but we had a crazy introduction to the day with Solfunks breath taking performance to be fair I will be talking mainly about the drums since drumming is my field by that doesn't mean I'm avoiding or discrediting the rest of the performers or the integrity of the performance.
The presence of the band was phenomenal the band were professional and this clearly wasn't their first time performing, The music was all well constructed and very present so even though my attention was mainly focused on the drums cause they were so awesome I couldn't help but notice the other instruments presence and the vocals since they all fit in together nicely it was as if all the instruments and vocals where one big instrument.
Overall I compare this performance to a big performance of well known/famous bands since the settle communication and finesses moving through the bands performance hides any mistakes they may or may not have made like a big band who usually manage to basically ace their performances without people noticing granted big bands usually have a majority of the crowd drunk by this point but that factor does not apply to the audience witnessing the Solfunk performance from what I know so if anything they manage to even beat the best of bands with how they pull off their music performance and presence .
What question did you ask them?
My question was "Who are your inspirations and how does their work influence how you play your songs" their response came four way but mainly had the same response they said there music was inspired by people like thunder cat.
My questions
What did you learn from their response?
It isn't bad to use your influences playstyles in your own music.
How did you feel about them witnessing your rehearsal?
The band did give me some extra pressure since the drummer was so sick and I felt like my simple drumming for peaches was basically a insult but he they did mention how my playstyle complemented the music and didn't get over taken by the drums.
What was discussed in the pods?
After the band received criticism we talked about what they told us about our stage presence telling the singers to try move around more and engage with the music like how the lead singer of Solfunk does with her audience.
Did you find the experience helpful?
It was defiantly inspiring
Would you benefit from other guest speakers?
Yes to be completely honest we need Solfunk back on that stage.
