Introduction.
I've been tasked with discussing my strengths and weaknesses revolving my experience this Monday working with other bands as a session musician and after going over what I'd learned involving what I'm good and bad at.
Strengths.
1) Improvising.
Improvising songs has always been my way playing songs I didn't particularly know and I did a lot of that this Monday since I only ever played songs I was given on the spot so other than learning these songs outside of college or in my spare time I mostly would be quickly listening to these songs to get the basic idea of they are played I was mainly improvising which is defiantly one of my strengths.
2) Teaching.
Other than helping bands out with drumming for them I did assist Jacob with learning a drumming technique called the drag I spent five minutes teaching him this technique and explaining why this technique was useful to my development as a drummer and how it improved my ideas in expanding my playstyle approach when it came to drumming and I believe Jacob took this into consideration so I guess that my ability to teach can be considered a strength of mine.
Weaknesses.
1) Playing Heavy Metal
Not heavy metal isn't my strong suit playing with Ben, Stuart and Jack wasn't exactly the peak of the day since I was playing songs I'd never particularly play though I don't have any problem with the genre itself I am not exactly familiar with it so playing I is a different experience.
2) Playing fast songs.
I always knew that the faster the song the worse I got at playing the song and though I am a competent Improviser so If ever I get to a point in a song where I didn't know what to do I'd begin to improvise but the faster the song the harder It comes to improvising songs so when asking Pod 4 if they needed someone to drum for them they asked me if I was any good at fast songs and I answered honestly telling them I wasn't any good at fast songs and even if I could improvise the song I feel like doing that would be a disservice to the original song.
