Background Info.

What am I doing for this project?

I'm providing assistance in creating percussion, marketing ideas, song development idea, live performance ideas, audience engagement ideas, band social media promotion schemes, merchandise and marketing strategies. I'm focusing hard on proving the band with good percussion for new projects and introducing new dynamics to present a decent production of drums in recordings and performance.

Who am I working with?

  • Toby Hayward (Vocalist/Guitarist)

  • Liv Forch (Basist/Vocalist)

  • Lily Rose (Vocalist/Pianist)

What influenced my decision?

I've worked previously with each member previously before this year in a band called Rule 5ive and with him working on a side project with Jayden called Silly games, I've worked with Lily in a Level three first year band where we covered come songs and I got a decent idea of her musical talents before they improved later in the year and finally I've worked with Liv on many projects throughout the past three years at college covering tracks such as Runaway baby by Bruno mars, Finders keepers by Mable and Creep by Radiohead. Even though I didn't pick the lineup for the band I knew everyone on it fairly decently to know we'd produce some creative and fun songs throughout the last year of college.

Does this link to my Career pathway?

I'm rooting to become a music performer so working with Neoneye is just another step I need to take to get better as a performer yes I've been in bands before but not for a period longer than three months so hopefully six months gives me a good idea of what working with others for that amount of time is like and will prepare me for future bands.

How has what I've done on previous projects helped me develop?

All work provides experience so working with many different characters has gave a range of ideas of what It's like to want to be in a band and what working in them may cause and if it's worth working with people with the same traits and characteristics as the people i've worked with here.

I've also developed technically on the drums though I've lost my flow when it comes to keeping in time, I have developed a good dynamic when it comes to staying consistent with the tone and vibe of the music i'm playing or creating at the time.

Also improvising has become more fluent whenever I am lost and don't know what to do Improvising onstage Is a lot easier to pull off, what can I have a creative and impulsive mind, performance has mainly been the most productive thing for me I can easily go onstage and present energy, quality and good music to a audience without really thinking about it

Has previous work linked to this project?

Last years FMP was the closest experience similar to this one since we had the freedom to pick what we wanted to play and create originals even though we wouldn't get to perform the big gig at the end of the year we still had the experience of preparing for it.

Activities ranging from Rehearsals, Production, Performance, Live sound, coursework and Preparation for the fmp gig are all recoccouring factors in both projects, because of the last year and even the year before that I have learned and become prepared for this FMP.

What have I struggled the most with on the course?

Keeping my money together without a the bursary I applied for three times getting to college from home has been a hassle comparing it to last year where I'd be in at 1-6 everyday and I was in bicester so train tickets where £3.60. Now I'm in Banbury, I have to be in all week with a exception to wednesday and because it's on peak hours I have to spend £14.20 a day on return travel this is excluding some other variables but you get the picture.

Alongside travel stressing over work and coursework has made sleeping a difficult task and non stop throughout the week I feel like everyone needs everything from me and I can't have a moment to think.

My hands continue to shake after playing drums maybe it how I play but realistically no matter what I'm doing wrong I'm still being told off for not being comfortable in rehearsals and studio.

What has been my biggest strength?

Performance, Rehearsals and Band planning I've been really good a displaying my strengths onstage and working with others to prepare for the O2 so hopefully It shows when the night comes after all the preparing, focusing and hard work I've put in hopefully it contributes to something.

According to many ironically enough this was one of the best performances i've done though personally I can see many gaps and problems with my drumming I guess my performing presence covered up my mistakes in this performance.

What skills did I need for this project?

  • High quality Performing

  • High quality Producing

  • Perceptive eye for Mistakes

  • Reliable Advice

  • Willingness to Problem solve

  • Multitasking skills

  • Organizing skills

  • Creativity

  • Dedication

  • Co-operation

  • Self criticism

What targets have I set myself and the band for the FMP?

I'm aiming really hard to top my last FMP performance so working really hard on learning my parts is crucial I'm ready mentally for the O2 but am I really ready for performing there?

My answer is a unsure yes but regardless all I need for the next few weeks it to rehearse consistently with the band maybe I'll grow more confident in my skills for the O2.

With the band I am confident since I know they put their heart and souls into working on their parts and I know they are great stage performers so working on our stage presence for the sake of perfection will only help the gigs quality rise so we need to work real hard in rehearsals pretending we are already onstage performing at the O2 pretending we engaging an audience at the same time as working on our songs.

How does Neoneye fit into Pop as a genre Pop has Been around for ever and is the closest representation we have towards generic/popular music in current era, so it’s hard to narrow down the first pop song to establish its genre. How many considerations finding the first pop song is almost impossible due to the status quo of pop music changing depending on popularity and opinions changing on music and how it should sound continuously changing, though you can narrow down whath the definitive sound of each era is the idea pf genre stems back as far as its existancs and since pop is mainly based on popular music according to the time, Thought this has now changed in the past 70 years the ida of pop still remains. To keep music going and to help focus audiences on the music that relates well according to time and climate The effect The world has on this genre. Like I said pop music isn’t A set in stone genre based on any particular theme or message though in recent years Pop music has predominantly promoted feel good and upbeat music towards modern audiences. So continuing a current theme our original pop music is meant to follow the most recent incarnation and utilisation of the pop genre by creating Upbeat or dance worthy music towards our audiences though taking on the genre has not changed our original views on the world we still appreciate the idea that pop in modern day is trying to present to its audience. Modern Pop music usually consist of a consistent and simple Upbeat drum pattern that doesn’t necessarily stray too far for one another in other songs involved in this genre also many pop songs include the use of modern music editing technology program the instrumentation and to edit vocal presence in recordings of songs the use of autotune reverb and delay are commonly found in the pop genre and necessarily don’t find their way into the other genres. The use of electronic and programs instrumentation is heavily used in genres such as pop hip-hop and dance music though this wasn’t the status quo technology has advanced enough to help musicians discover songs and sounds they may not have heard or created if it wasn’t for this technology effects like autotune were developed due to the use of experimental projects based on using modern music technology invoked by the existence of pop music Desperate to find a way to change the sound of the status quo of music which is pop the creation of such effects as autotune became a staple of the genre thanks to it needing its own unique sound to clarify and differentiate it from other genres.

Neoneye has a very close symbolic Connection to pop music the band aims to utilise pops colourful and glowing stage presence and promote music that is commonly upbeat and up-to-date theme that comes with the popularity of songwriting neoneye aim is to produce songs to a standard that Pop songs commonly seen on the radio and other music advertising/promotional theatres.

The use of theme in pop music is utilised to push a message there are many different examples of pop music promoting messages though commonly pop music presents three different messages these messages consist of love, happiness and hope. Ed Sheeran uses love as a consistent theme throughout his music so he doesn’t necessarily stick to you the theme of love so heavily since he has produced hopeful and energetic songs in the past its most popular ones consist of tackling the difficulties of love. The use of theme is a effective technique used within songwriting in pop music having a consistent and reliable theme in your music induces others who are fans of the genre to listen to music that primarily and usually has the same theme in others of its genre

Local scene oxford.

Oxford is a very easy place to get involved in the music scene, since the city offers Opportunities such as basking small gigs and even big ones the city of Oxford is a middle ground for you to launch a music career. Oxford is a easy and accessible place to get your name around having it be a big place so there are A variety of different venues to perform at, The city also offers a small and compact social communications Long story short everyone knows everyone and this helps promote these small bands trying to get their name out in this city. In comparison to a small village the achievement of getting your name around a village after performing is smaller compared to getting your name around Oxford since the village is small and lacks the variety of people it’s extremely easy to become a popular band in a small confined location keeping with a metaphor Oxford is a medium for all types of scenes to start in. For example Oxford is a small city compared to London and Birmingham London and Birmingham are considerably more difficult to promote your brand or your own music career since the shit I’m out people decreases interest in small bands. What I mean is the more people in a social group the less significant small gossip comes since Oxford is a small city that are smaller but rather large social groups that like to gossip about current activities going on in town though because places like Birmingham and London are so big the chances of these small gossips getting around are less likely since there are so many different gossips being spread around through large social groups due to the sheer mass of people living in these big cities. Does the band fit in with the scene? Luckily enough our band is based out of Oxford so we fit in very well with the scene since small pop/indie band our representative of what the people of environment around us looking for a music. How do we aim to stand out? The band aims to stand out by being more of a social and friendly type of band though obviously bands are meant to be friendly and sociable our van will be different we will be accessible and relatable to the audience around us doing small gig promoting the name slightly more effectively since we will relate with the audience we aim to please and we know we’ll predominantly be around in Oxford. Are there Places more suitable for the band? Unfortunately other local scenes may not be as suitable for our band as Oxford is to us, Since Oxford is surrounded by small towns and villages though being effective in promoting a brand in these places they will not provide valuable to us since the small towns are self-contained and aren’t part of the hotspot of Oxfordshire since Oxford is what could be considered the capital of the county tourists and the local scene predominantly be looking for new and upcoming entertainers to promote the share extreme quality of the talent their city and promote the local talent in Oxford. So mainly band is suited very well for Oxford music scene

Has the scene scared me from employment or university?

Don’t worry I’ve taken my metaphor too seriously talking about the impact of large groups in big cities I believe that starting a music career in said big cities like London Manchester and Birmingham may not be as difficult as I might have described though my metaphor still stands since Oxford is a very communal small place with accessible social groups it is a very good place to promote and start a music career no I don’t want to go university yet I believe that attempting to launch some kind of musical Profile in large cities could become a must in the foreseeable future of my music for me I just don’t see any success in it just yet so I will wait for the right time to attempt to apply for university When I can guarantee that I am ready for the environment and challenges the big cities present.

Songwriting finders keepers/Owe it all to you.

The song writing in Mables finders keepers comparison to the song writing in Owe it all to you similar in theme both songs talk about affection towards a significant other. in Mables finders keepers the lyric take it now that you found it suggests that finding love is a task and securing love is essential to growth and development as a person so making sure you understand what you have at the time and not neglecting it is a successful way of this is what you want. Though Owe it all to you It’s a song about development after relationship it does focus on the lessons learnt from past mistakes and remaining consistent with its inspiration pers it displays that the writer has learnt something from the relationship and will not neglect a future one.

Mabel always has a colourful to look to her She likes to be part of the crowd though like to stand out slightly wearing dress and a colourful clothing. My boys always moving promoting the energy into song is playing and displays a great amount of audience engagement to keep people involved and interested in the performance do this with ou FMP performance

EP Development.

Why are we producing a EP?

We are producing our EP To promote our band and display what kind of music our band is primarily going to focus on making. another use of the EP is to promote ourselves as individual musicians, we plan on distributing Ep two make sure that our songs are successful and have a chance of being recognised broadly across all different audiences anywhere. we want to engage any kind of audience we can make sure we reach as many years as possible after the EP is released by making sure the music is recorded correctly for the success of our plans for this EP.

Why Is recorded music important?

Making sure all songs are correctly recorded, edited and mastered is a key part of presenting out music efficiently and making sure that all songs sound good for absolutely anyone who listens to it. The main aim of recording EP to make sure we have something to refer to when reminding ourselves of own music when it comes to you breaks and time apart from the band we may forget our song sound so having a recording of this song only helps us remember how good we really are!

How am I planning to release the EP?

We plan to release the EP on Spotify SoundCloud making a few digital copies of the digital copies Vee for the band remembrance and study when looking back on the password when promoting the EP will be using Instagram Snapchat and other social media platforms to promote the fact the band have their own EP and the music can be accessible for our audience.

Planning FMP gig.

My role.

My role in the FMP gig planning is to promote a market the upcoming performance (night one and two of homecoming) this is to ensure the success rate of ticket sales and to provide all bands performing on night one and two decently sized audience to react to our hard work in form of the songs that we wrote. I specialise in making promotional material like posters, story posts consisting of reminders corresponding to homecoming night one and two, I also create projection videos I can use to provide a background behind the forming bands when displaying the skills and hard work on the night of the gigs.

What other roles are there?

There are two groups consisting of marketing team and tech team so when it comes to listen roles there are many. The tech team consist of roles such as roadie, action plan organisers, sound engineers, lighting engineers and over options. Marketing team consists of roles such as poster makers, setlist organises, merchandise creators and organisers, event name organisers, event promoters and other roles.

Why did I pick my role?

I am a creative and spontaneous person so when it comes to thinking of wacky and out of the ordinary ideas I am the perfect person for that job, I do enjoy creating things such as posters anything to do with art pictures and I do like to talk about the current gossip around so when promoting the O2 I don’t really think about it too hard and comes naturally. Making posters and projection videos is easy to use art and video and editing software and while I’m doing it doesn’t seem like a task at all so that’s why I picked the wrong since it was something I would possibly be doing anyway.

Where I am planning on doing music performance at university I do enjoy the idea of music marketing manager in these are sideline ideas if I see that my work become successful and forward to the O2 I may consider band promotion music promotion music marketing has a option for a music career pathway in the future.

Role requirements.

This job involves creativity, Standard advertising skills, and a decent movie standard of how the gig will play out. Also knowing what details about the gig when crating posters Who is advertise the gig since no false advertisement is presented in the face is so people interested will show up in the right time on the right day and they’ll know what they are getting into. When creating van production images knowing what the band theme Is helps when collecting feedback for your projections since the brand would be pleased if you got their style logo and overall tone correct who are production video.

Other responsibilities are considered for the gig.

I need to make sure all the information up on the posters is correct and doesn’t contradict itself or spread false information Centre in all the details when it comes to create new supposed to is vital for it to be successful.

Did the virus effect Music?

Covid had a negative effect on the music scene though it seems That it has returned to normal there are still things that affect every day life in the music industry. Some places still consider it mandatory to wear a mask so they leave signs studios request in the uses of the studios to wear a facemask when in the premises. Covid or so slow down music production more people at home at the dinner music releasing things became more and more difficult since this people are able to meet up and record together

How is this gig different to the others?

Though lockdown seems like the past Planning the gig still remains the same even though we aren’t doing on FMP at college we are doing it in an environment we haven’t performed in before, since we ain't in the environment we used to know in the stage and the capacity is very important since we need to know how much equipment we can bring how many people we can invite and how much noise we are to make.

Other roles excluding my own.

The OT will consist of bar staff, security, storage staff booking office staff.
