Introduction.

This blog will document my educational journey for the last few months of college leading up to our assessed gig at the O2 so until that point I'll write about Song writing, Song performance evaluations, Band development/Planning and O2 planning (Marketing) I will go through each week discussing my development on each area trying to explain our development path as best as I can.

Week 1-2 - Reintroduction.

Today we were given some time to prepare for a performance that would be assessed by other students and critiqued while in turn we will do the same with their performances so I'll provide my opinion on my bands performance and discuss my personal criticism on my bands performance.

Eyewing.

The performance was average to be fair it was probably the best given that we hadn't performed together over half term and we didn't really have much practice time over the half term so the performance was good all things considered.

The only thing we could have done was tune the base up before going onstage, provide more audience engagement, stage movement and less drum rolls to remain constant and true to the original song.

Origanal progression.

This week we did not make any new originals though our current list of original songs we created are at four Owe it all to you, You want me, Let you go and Eyedrill this is the perfect amount of songs to have since we are aiming for six to eight song to perform at the O2 so getting another two or four songs done by that time would be really good for the production of the band.

Though all of the originals have been polished thanks to the December showcase we did need to go over them this week to make sure we remembered how to play them since we didn't do too well covering meet me at our spot we wondered what else we lost the Midas touch to while playing music luckily we didn't forget how to play our originals though it's true next week we will need to go over them.

Week 3-4 - Band Promotional material and a Rebrand

This week we spent dedicated to creating a good load of social media work for promoting the O2 we also finished our unfinished recordings of the first four original songs this week with only a little editing to do at most if there is anything we missed it'll be done by Monday next week.

Rebrand... enter Neoneye

You might be wondering why did we rebrand from Eyewing to Neoneye? well basically we had a external gig at The siege of new Orleans a small venue where we performed You want me, Owe it all to you and we also covered Come together, we was at this venue thanks to Nick providing us with the location and saying that their was someone he knew who ran a open mic night at the venue, a week prior to the performing there we went in to ask about the place and what equipment we should bring and then he asked us the hardest question ever what is your band name?

Obviously we were called Eyewing but something about saying them words out loud to someone you don't know was honestly so embarrassing so this week we decided to rebrand to something only just slightly less corny Neoneye.

A early work on our the Neoneye Logo.

Let you go Promotional background.

Neon eye Promotional background.

The promotional background videos will be used In during Let you go and will be projected behind us as we perform at the O2, the Neon eye promotional background will be projected in between our songs the aim is to have a specific promotional background made for each song but so far I've only managed to create these two.

Original Development

In other news we are focusing on practicing our first four originals this week then hopefully in a week or two we will manage to Produce a new original song but here is our first rehearsal of You want me since last term the songs really need more practise before we move on to writing new ones cause whats the point in not perfecting our songs first.

Week 5-6 - O2 Promotional work Marketing & New original!

Here is the line up for the O2.

These posters might be used to promote the O2 and hopefully will be used to promote the newly titled homecoming event for the college performance at the O2.

Toby's original song.

This week we began working on new original ideas so we put together a few makeshift songs in the pods with Me on Drums, Liv on Bass, Lilly on Keys and Toby on Guitar this new original has been sort of a small little project we have been randomly performing in between rehearsals and we thought It'll be a good time to work on it's slightly even though we have a new original we are definitely to work on at some point next week.

Week 7-8 - The last two originals

Today we got into the pods ready to work on the new original we began working on last week though toby came up with a idea for a song he had and though we didn't really get far into developing the idea into a fully blown song we did manage to record it before our break after break toby left due to illness so Kelson filled in and helped us develop the song we started last week.

I've Fallen out with love.

As shown Liv was on Guitar, Lilly was on Piano, Kelson was on Bass and I was on the drums in this recording on Monday though after this recording and later on in the week we started to quickly put more of a structured song by including a more structured drum pattern, Tempo and keeping to a consistent time signature I was debating in my head what play style I would go with for this song either a Joyful 50s/60s beat or a 16th note beat similar to the play style of Ride by Twenty one pilots going through these different play styles was exciting and really showed how variously the drum patterns could fit the so and I could play the song any way I felt comfortable. I decided on going with a mix of the 50s joyful beat though it's still in its early stages of creation so It's still ambiguous what path the song might take next week.

Eighteen.

A new original we are focusing on after getting fallen out of love is coming along well this song is coming together well though we are missing toby in these rehearsal lessons we need to see how practicing this song with Toby will go.

We started organising our setlist for the O2 gig rehearsing two of our fist songs today You want me and Owe it all to you to begin with rehearsing our originals then we rehearsed our two newest songs falling out with love and a new original that is unnamed just as comparison for our development, the first two originals and the latest two are obviously different in quality not to downgrade the original two but its obvious there is a difference in quality and production though the songs are good in certain respect.

Fallen out with love.

Music Is a form of influence depending on its Popularity, Relatable message and how catchy the song is, so in conclusion the idea of a influential song isn't a fictional concept though it's unlikely that small songs with inconsistent messages will convey any kind of impact into the real world in any Impactful way so this means if you want to make a song to change the world you will have you will have to make sure your song reaches the people of the world first.

Eighteen.
